Lake Barkley Bridge Access at Canton

Folks who love taking a stroll or even a long hike will enjoy one of this area’s newest attractions.  On the east side of the new Lake Barkley bridge, a parking area has been installed along with some awesome interpretive signage regarding the history of the area.

Three displays talk about the beginning with Native Americans, the town of Canton’s establishment in the 1800s, and the building of the first bridge in the 1930s.

Hikers can enjoy the walk across the bridge, with the more serious adventurers being able to hike west several miles to Kentucky Lake’s Eggners Ferry Bridge via the Central Hardwoods Trail in LBL.  A parking area on the west side of the bridge in LBL is also available.

The trail from the parking area goes across the new Lake Barkley bridge. Hikers and cycling enthusiasts can enjoy the trail.
